Last night was our final birthing class before baby comes. It was an incredible three-week session and I learned so much from our instructor. Without getting into too much detail about the birthing process, I do have to share that my husband, Rob, has been a great birthing partner. He has taken notes and really was present for all of the breathing instruction and guided imagery that took place. After each round of breathing he always told me “You’re doing a good job”.

He is going to be a great coach and birthing partner and a fabulous dad, but before we get to that stage, I really want to celebrate what a fabulous job he is doing throughout this pregnancy. It still cracks me up every time he says, “Is that your pregnancy shirt” and while I tried to get him to say maternity a hundred times, he’s not breaking and now I’ve come to love the “pregnancy” coat and “pregnancy” clothes.

I asked a couple of people what they would recommend for a birthing coach gift and I was told a stress ball and a muzzle. I think I might just get a Labor Coach Bag like the one shown below from Cafe Press and fill it with lots of goodies for Delivery Day.

Some things to include in the Labor Coach Bag are of course that stress ball to save his hands from all that squeezing, Red Bull, his favorite snacks, and a Coach T-shirt like the one shown above from Cafe Press that he wouldn’t mind wearing again and again. I’m also going to include a Keepsake Box for him to store special memories that he can store all his favorite baby first items in. Included will be an envelope for baby’s first hair-cut and plenty of room for him to stash photos and artwork.

If I know my husband, he does not want a book or magazine to read, he wants wi-fi. Since our hospital allows us to connect to their wireless server, I may throw in a couple of movies that I think would be perfect for a Daddy and Me Day once we get home from the hospital.

I may just forgo the Labor Coach Survival Bag for a baby bag he wouldn’t mind carrying full-time, but if you’ve got a female coach, she would probably love to sport that bag proudly.

What are some ideas you have for a Daddy Birthing Coach Gift? Have you receivedĀ or given any unique gifts for this occasion? If so I would love to hear your ideas. Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Maybe I will get him one of these engraved bats from Urban Farmhouse after Delivery Day with his name and the date on it. I think he will just love it!!

I love the bat idea for the men, especially if your coach is into baseball, but you could expand it to any sporting tool, as well. Perhaps a baseball where it could be displayed in a case in the baby’s room or something you could place on the wall. Cute idea.

This is a cute idea! I never thought to do anything special for my husband last time. Maybe I will get him a little surprise for baby number 2 that is comming in Apr.

what great ideas. I have always wondered what to get the dad since Mom seems to get everything. I think Dad would really appreciate it.
